The term “sommelier” originates in the Provencal dialect and in the word “Saumier”, which initially indicated a person responsible for an animal drawn vehicle destined for wine transport.
A “beer sommelier” is a gastronomic specialist for beer tapping and combining dishes with particular beer sorts. In Europe, there are about 250 graduated beer sommeliers allied in their own association (www.biersommelier.de).
The first Czech graduates from the brewer academy in Munich and thus the first holders of the title of the graduated beer sommelier in the Czech Republic are Jiří and Vojtěch Plevkas.
They would like to use their skills of beer sommeliers to make the restaurant “Old Malt House” a well of magnificent gastronomical experience for all customers and help them take another step on their adventurous way to discover the beer grail.
